Made in USA PhotoCubics Vs Made in China Gem Lightbox

You Decide based on facts:

PhotoCubics Vs Gem Lightbox:

  • PhotoCubics is designed and built for real cameras, but is also smartphone compatible.
  • Gem Box is only compatible with smartphones, it is not compatible with any real camera.
  • When genuine professional results are the goal, the only choice is PhotoCubics.
  • If you care about genuine professional results, you won't buy into the Puffery Sales Pitch that a smartphone is equal to or even superior to a real camera.

Interior work space

PhotoCubics:

  • 10.25" wide, 12.75" Deep, 10.25" high ceiling.
  • Generously sized for all but those rare huge pieces of jewelry such traditional Indian wedding necklaces.

Gem Lightbox:

  • 6 ¾" wide X 7 ⅞" deep, they don't tell height, but it is no more than 4" maybe 5" open space between floor and ceiling.
  • So small that a lot of common size jewelry does not properly fit inside.

Exterior Dimensions

PhotoCubics: 10.25" wide, 17 ¼" length, 12.5" high: perfectly sized for any desktop to handle all jewelry.

Gem Lightbox: 7 7/8" wide, 11 13/16" length, 8 11/16" high: it's dysfunctionally small, cannot because it does not handle a lot of jewelry.

Turntable Dimensions

PhotoCubics: 9" Diameter 1/8" thick Aluminum Turntable sized for real world practicality.

Gem Lightbox: 6 ⅝" diameter plastic turntable is not enough for flat lay necklaces or sweep view of bracelets.

Accessibility to Interior Stage

PhotoCubics: User Friendly Intelligent Workflow, true professional quality imaging.
Slider doors on left and right sides means you don't have to move the camera and an obstructive front door out of the way to get to your jewelry.
And you can use both hands to manipulate the ideal composition/positioning of your jewelry while viewing things through the camera to see the exact image composition.
Better yet, tether the camera to the computer and see it all on professional big screen work detail.

Gem Lightbox: User Friendly functionality, low quality imaging.
Built-in design flaw bottleneck zero workflow, a never ending hassle of having to move the camera out of the way, then remove the front door, then try to work within the tiny space of less than 6" wide opening, and because you cannot look through the camera while composing your jewelry you must then replace the front door, reposition and frame the camera, and if you don't like how the piece is set you get to do it all over again... again and again and again.
It should be obvious that this is a completely inconsiderate and careless design conceived by software guys, not experienced real world professional jewelry photographers.

Lighting

PhotoCubics:

  • The word Photography means "paint with light".
  • No matter how much your camera cost it can only record what you show it, good or bad lighting, it can only give you what you give it.
  • PhotoCubics lighting is configured for professional camera settings to instantly produce genuine professional high quality images right out of the camera.
  • Professional print quality images even for poster size display.

Gem Lightbox:

  • Gem Lightbox lighting is underpowered, it's impossible to get good images out of the camera, so instead these guys created tricky software that does behind the scenes image corrupting fixing, and so the images only look acceptable when viewed small, but view them closer and the images quickly break apart, instantly disconnecting your customer hence resulting in lost sales that true professional images would have won for you. This is supposed to be about selling more jewelry, building greater success for you
  • Can only use a compatible smartphone, cannot use real cameras.
  • Printing these images goes no further than so-so quality thumb nail size, really small.

Build Quality and Lifespan

PhotoCubics: Designed and Built to last a lifetime:

  • Aircraft Aluminum .05" thick with 400° Baked on pure photo white interior and exterior finish.
  • Indestructible pure white polycarbonate interior light panels.
  • All lights are user friendly replaceable because lights can and do fail.
  • Turntable and SkySpinner motors are user friendly replaceable because motors can and do fail.
  • 9" diameter ⅛" thick heavy duty never warp turntable disc with 400° baked on never yellow or fade pure photo white.
  • When, not if, the lights dim or fail, or a motor goes on the blink, it's no problem - simply and easily replace them. This considerate design makes it so you can easily use PhotoCubics for decades.

Gem Lightbox: Designed and built to fail:

  • It's all plastic that will yellow and check and warp.
  • Plastic turntable that will warp yellow and check.
  • Cannot replace lights
  • Cannot replace turntable motor or aerial motors.
  • It is a matter of "When", not "If" the lights dim or fail, or a motor goes on the blink. Not being able to replace these is completely the wrong way to treat customers..

Software

PhotoCubics:

  • Not based on the behind the scenes fixing of poor images with software.
  • Several choices of software. We provide step by step video tutorials for our recommended software choices.
  • We are not a software company, we are the innovative professional photography lighting company.

Gem Lightbox:

  • Give them credit here, their software at first look is razzle-dazzle wow. But it's the results that count, and their Images are extensively fixed by behind the scenes software, the result is extensive image corruption so that images only look acceptable when viewed very small.
  • Really poor image integrity, the photos break apart quickly when zoomed for a closer view... this disconnects your customer from the jewelry you want them to buy.
